This is not a wellness blog. It is a resource for people who are done being told their labs are normal while still feeling unwell — and who are ready to look at what their environment might be doing to their biology. Start here.
Rates of chronic illness, autoimmune conditions, and metabolic dysfunction have been rising for decades. In the same period, chemical exposure has increased across virtually every domain of daily life — food, water, bedding, cleaning products, personal care items, indoor air. Environmental exposures may contribute to that burden and deserve serious consideration. What we know for certain is that real-world mixtures of these chemicals have almost never been studied at the doses people actually experience every day. That is not a reassurance — it is a well-documented regulatory gap, and it is why a practical, precautionary approach matters.
Meanwhile, most "clean" or "non-toxic" product marketing is not backed by independent third-party certification. A brand can call itself natural, green, or eco-friendly with no verification required. Knowing which certifications actually mean something — and which are marketing — is a skill most people have never been taught.
Low-Tox Frenchy exists to close that gap. I research the certifications, investigate the brands, and cover the categories that matter most: bedding, mattresses, water filtration, supplements, EMF, air quality, home testing.
Synthetic chemicals in commercial use in North America. Most have never been tested for safety at combined exposure levels.
The average adult spends in bed. Your mattress and bedding are the highest-contact surface in your home — and most are made with synthetic materials that off-gas.
Requires manufacturers to disclose all ingredients in household cleaning products in Canada or the US. "Fragrance" alone can contain hundreds of undisclosed chemicals.
Most review sites check whether a brand holds a certification. I do that — and then I go five layers deeper. Here is exactly what I look at before anything earns a recommendation on this site.
What the product is made of, where those materials come from, how they are processed, and what is known about their hazard profiles. Sourcing matters as much as the end ingredient list.
How the product is used, how often, and how close it is to your skin or breath. Proximity matters more than mere presence — a chemical in a sealed container is very different from one in a pillowcase you breathe through for eight hours.
GOTS, GOLS, MADE SAFE, OEKO-TEX, GREENGUARD Gold, EWG Verified, and others. I check the actual certification databases, explain what each standard tests for, and flag where the gaps are. Not all certifications are equal.
Who founded the brand, how it is funded, what the ownership structure looks like, and whether claims are third-party verified or self-declared. A product can hold every certification and still come from an organization you would not want to support.
Does it actually work? Will people realistically use it long-term? A product with a perfect ingredient profile that underperforms or breaks gets replaced with something worse. Performance is part of the safety equation.
I flag what the science supports versus what is still emerging. I do not overclaim. Where evidence is limited or conflicting, I say so. Honest uncertainty is more useful than confident overclaiming.

I spent years dealing with chronic digestive issues, multiple infections, and a medical system that had no answers. I went through every diet and every test available before deciding I would figure it out myself. Getting certified as an IHP and running a Urinary Organic Acids Test finally gave me the real picture — and the tools to resolve what years of conventional approaches had missed.
Low-Tox Frenchy is built from that experience, and from the understanding that healing requires addressing both the biological and the environmental layer.
